Fashion and Beauty Talk: Chat with Titilayo Belo

Titilayo Belo is a young woman with an unwavering belief in her vision, a style communicator, and the brain behind the blog,  An emerging fashion designer, Titilayo now runs her own business and is powered by the goal to grow her label to become one of the biggest high street brands in Africa, which caters to the socially outgoing female.

She recently had a chat with St. Eve Magazine.

St. Eve Magazine: What/Who inspired the creation of and what motivates you to keep going during the good and bad times?

Titilayo Bello: I wanted to share my personal journey as a young designer, intimacy with God and my personal style. As a young designer I went online to look for tips or inspirational stories that could help me start up and I didn’t see anything that helped much so my blog will hopefully fill that gap and help someone somewhere start their dream and work towards achieving it.

Funny thing is a few months ago I was thinking of shutting the blog down totally because I was starting to move away from the focus and I couldn’t handle the new direction in which it was going. I spoke with a couple of people who advised me to stay true to why I started the blog and that has been a huge motivation for me

If you were to start all over again, what would you do differently?

Invest in a better total outlook or aesthetic for the website in general and push my content even more.

Do you think high heel shoes are bad for a person’s health? If yes, why do you wear them?

I have read articles that too much of it is bad, well too much of everything is bad… lol. I recently read that someone died from being over hydrated (drinking too much water) But if its done in moderation why not. I love high heels but I don’t wear it every other day just when I have a social function, which is rarely, of recent.

What are your 5 essential travel items?

Well I’m not a jet setter so I’m not sure of the right response to this. Well maybe in another few months… lol.

What kinds of clothes are in fashion now but which you could never see yourself wearing?

Off the top of my head I can’t think of anything, I believe any clothing item can be styled according to personality so anything will work for me provided I style it my way.

Who is your fashion icon?

Anna Dello Russo; An accessories designer, even in old age she still rocks those outfits even better than us younglings

Jelena Karleausa; A Serbian pop artist

A couple of Fashion bloggers; Nini Nguyen, Micah Giannelli

(You should look them up on IG)

Do you think that the clothes we wear reflect what is inside us?

Well for me it does, I dress up according to how I feel inside at that moment.

What would you wear to meet royalty or the President of Nigeria?

Well I’m sure when the time comes, my excitement will decide on something really amazing.

What’s your favorite outfit you’ve ever worn?

To be honest I have so many and at the same time maybe I don’t have any that’s why none has really stuck.

Which season is the most convenient for you to be fashionable?

Well in Nigeria it’s basically summer all year round so fabulosity all year round!
